Centra (Nation)

Geography: The Centran continent was probably covered with rainforests and jungles prior to the Lunar Cry. During that event, the centre of the landmass was blasted deep into the sea and much of the continent’s natural beauty was destroyed. Very little still remains, with the majority of the continent being covered in rocky wastes and patches of deserts. In the past thousand years, the jungles have begun to retake the continent, but there is no refuting that the environment’s flora and fauna were changed forever.

Culture: As planet Gaia’s first recorded superculture, the Centran Empire reigned for 5,000 years and comprised the sum total of all official territories and peoples in the known world. Research into the culture of the Centran Empire is difficult to pin down, as it varied across many different regions, cities, and peoples and was drastically different during its many different periods of rule. However, it was entirely and constantly under the rule of an Emperor or Empress, was expansionist in nature and was somewhat theocratic and worshipped a pantheon of deities with different functions and portfolios. The nature of its religion, as with most aspects of ancient Centran culture, is hotly debated amongst academics. Very little cultural information survived the cataclysmic destruction of the Centran Empire and the scattering of its ancient peoples.

Today, a variety of culturally diverse peoples inhabit the Centran Continent. All thought to be splinter groups and offshoots from the Centran Empire, these peoples typically all call themselves “Centran” despite their cultural differences. After all, at the Empire’s height it was composed of many groups and peoples all under the same flag. Perhaps the surviving peoples simply reverted to the ways of their ancestors before their assimilation into the fallen Empire.

Architecture: Centran architecture is extremely varied, especially amongst present day cultures. Ancient ruins have been discovered from multiple eras, each one differing in design philosophy from another.

Industry: Very little is known about the industry of the Centran Empire throughout its exceedingly long rule. While records were kept fastidiously, very little has survived.

History: Once the seat of the Centran Empire, founded at least 5,000 years ago. The empire reached a state of technological superiority, similar to the current nation of Esthar and possibly exceeding it before it was destroyed by the Lunar Cry. It is considered to be a post-apocalyptic continent by the University of Veronahill.

Military: Since Centra is no longer a united nation, it has no official military. However, small fighting forces defend their respective communities, cities and cultures across the continent.

Trivia: 

• Centra has no official language or head of state, it varies from culture to culture.
• Despite being home to a very diverse collection of cultures, languages and peoples, it is common for people on from this continent to call themselves “Centran” as a point of pride. These people trace their lineages back to the most powerful civilization Gaia had ever known.
• The middle of the Centran continent is now deep underwater and home to some of the most dangerous, long-lived and mutated monsters on the planet. This greatly discourages exploring.
